Carlisle Ramblers & Fellwalkers

After a hair raising journey on the coach along the narrow road into Buttermere, we were glad to get our boots on the ground for a stroll around the lake. The waterfalls were in spate from the recent rain and many of the trees were showing the first spring leaves. We were lucky to get somewhere to sit down for our lunch as the path was very busy with other day walkers. The weather gradually improved enough for half of our party to avail ourselves of an ice cream at Gatesgill Farm while the others looked on in envy; (they said they didn't want one, but followed every lick with their eyes!) A few difficult patches were overcome with aplomb before we reached the end of our walk and repared to the café to await the As and Bs return.
