The 685 buses sort of worked. Four of us ended up at the starting point to be met by Pam and Ken & Ann Halliday.
A wee cut off to the left soon after the Police Station took us to the lane to Brampton Old Church. As we were strolling along, we were suddenly joined by Christine our esteemed Treasurer who had come for the ‘History’ lesson (so she said)!
The keys to the Old Church are available at the Farm next door. Spectacular views over the Irthing, which explains why it was such a defensive fort. Lots of history in the Church yard and within the Church.
We then went back to St Martin’s and admired the wonderful stained glass windows by Burne-Jones. A leisurely lunch followed at the popular Howard Arms.”
Thanks all for your company. Judy
